Craven vets nominated for two national awards
Kingway Veterinary Hospital and one of its compassionate nurses are in the running for this year’s prestigious national Petplan awards.
Kingsway Vets has been nominated for Practice of the Year and one of its dedicated nursing team for Veterinary Nurse of the Year in the 2017 Petplan awards.
The annual awards, which are now in their 18th year, celebrate the nation’s most exceptional veterinary practices and professional staff who do fantastic work going above and beyond the call of duty in keeping pets healthy and supporting pet owners. Each year, Petplan invites the public to nominate veterinary staff who have provided excellent care when caring for and saving their pets.
24 year old Lily Dawson from Carleton has been a veterinary nurse for Kingsway Vets for 1 year. She joined after finishing her qualification at a busy veterinary hospital in Leeds and is committed to looking after companion pets, animal welfare and promoting responsible pet ownership.
She said, “I love my work. Caring for animals has never felt like a job to me, but I am very grateful to everyone who thinks I deserve this nomination and have taken the time out of their busy schedules to nominate me.”
The whole Kingsway team are crossing all their paws and fingers for Lily while also celebrating Petplan’s second nomination: Veterinary Practice of the Year.
Veterinary director Bob Pettit said. “We are a team of over 30 dedicated staff who all share an ethos to provide first class and exceptional pet care. My colleagues are extremely compassionate; I see them work tirelessly, every day, caring for pets, treating them as they would their own whilst providing the much needed support to their owners. As Petplan search nationwide for the top veterinary professionals we are all delighted to be nominated for practice of the year.”
Kingsway was established in Skipton over 70 years ago and remains an independent practice with branches in Skipton, Silsden and Crosshills, and a farm practice at Skipton’s Auction Mart. Last year the group was the first vets in Craven to be accredited with ‘hospital status’ by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), recognising the very highest standards in delivering care to animals.
The winners are to be announced by Petplan at the beginning of April.
